Rea Summers has 19 years of experience in various communication roles for industries that include oil & gas, software development, medical, real estate, and media. She has extensive experience in developing complex strategies related to organizational change management, internal and external marketing campaigns, public relations, and leadership development.
As the Executive Director of Communications for Enovate Upstream, she provides counsel, assistance, and support in furthering Enovate Upstream’s goals and objectives through strategic communications activities designed to promote and enhance the company brand, products, and growth. In addition, she plans, directs, and implements comprehensive communication programs, internally and externally, collaborates with internal teams, manages external vendors, provides leadership to and supervises the organization’s public relations/information function.
In her most recent role, Rea consulted industries that include oil & gas, energy, technology, education, and travel to develop curated curriculum for education programs focused on leadership development, employee onboarding, and recruitment strategies.
Rea has successfully completed multiple large-scale projects.
Served as an Organizational Change Management consultant to execute Halliburton’s Battle Red Program, which restructured the company’s back-office operations to improve quality of services. Battle Red focused specifically on the fracking services value chain – and successfully increased mobility and mobile technology in the field. The outcome: improved business development, increased connectivity between operations team, and agility to customer needs.
Worked for the Methodist Hospital System as a Communications Consultant/Strategist. In this role, Rea collaborated with the executive team to create and release public awareness communications, researched, and wrote articles for medical magazines regarding advanced procedures, clinical trials, and cutting-edge treatments. The outcome: opening new facility, onboarding doctors, nurses, and staff, achieved awards and recognitions.
Launched and created documentation of the Generally Accepted Appraisal Rules™ (GAAR®) – the first technology to automate a thorough, in-depth review of residential real estate appraisals. The technology works to evaluate compliance and underlying risks for mortgage lenders. The outcome: clients shifted from a manual, labor-intensive process that allowed room for reviewer error to an automated, ultra-fast technology that provides protection from potential fraud and risky lending practices.
Rea graduated with honors from the University of Texas at San Antonio with a B.S. in English. She later obtained a Master of Science in Professional Writing and Technical Communication from the University of Houston. She lives with her family and rescue dogs in Houston, TX.
